Overview

The Lead Pastor at NorthLight Community Church is responsible for providing spiritual leadership and ensuring that the church’s mission, vision, and values are actively lived out in all ministries. This includes delivering biblically based sermons, overseeing teaching ministries, offering pastoral care, making disciples and mentoring ministry leaders and volunteers. The Lead Pastor also collaborates with the leadership team to guide the church’s operations, equip leaders, and foster outreach both within the church community and beyond. 

Responsibilities

  • Regular time in prayer for the church, our ministries and community.

  • Assure that the mission, vision and values of the church are being accomplished.

  • Deliver engaging, biblically based, Spirit-filled sermons that align with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) Statement of Faith.

  • Work with the Elders to oversee the teaching ministries of NLCC.

  • Provide spiritual leadership and shepherding of the church membership.

  • Provide pastoral care and counseling to congregation members in times of need.

  • Lead and coordinate worship services, working closely with the worship team.

  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of church ministries.

  • Shepherd, guide and mentor ministry leadership teams, staff, lay Elders and Deacons.

  • Assist in providing vision and support to each ministry.

  • Help equip ministry leaders to give appropriate supervision and guidance to their ministries.

  • Help to develop and implement effective programs that educate and equip the congregation to do ministry and outreach.

  • Coordinate and delegate the daily business activities of the church through the appropriate ministries and functional areas.

  • Model personal outreach and disciple making through relationships in the church and outside of the church.

Qualifications

  • The Lead Pastor will exhibit the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Ordination or licensing as a pastor under the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA)standards (if necessary).

  • Proven experience in pastoral ministry, spiritual leadership, and community engagement

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in organizational and administrative tasks.
